Whilst watching this evening’s match, I very nervous. After all, the only team that had scored for both teams was Aston Villa in the first half. I was thinking, “C’mon Jose, do something.”
This match was lively, physical and really tested Chelsea and the Special One’s decision-making since his return to Stamford Bridge.
It seemed that Demba Ba just couldn’t get into form. Mata is not 100% yet. Lampard and Ivanovic were playing their hearts out.
Finally, the changes were made and the winning goal ensued.
Chelsea did get lucky — Ivanovic was ever-so-slightly offside and John Terry did handle the ball. Also, Ivanovic could have been sent off by a more sinister referee for his scuffle with Benteke. But, Chelsea prevailed. I’ll take that win and the 3 points that comes with it.
Aston Villa has started this season the best they have ever that I can remember. This was definitely a good test for Chelsea in preparation for their match against Manchester United on Monday. Time to get to work.
My faith is with The Special One.
Keep the Blue Flag Flying High.
